Broadcast News - Franklin Heights High School
Over past years Franklin Heights has offered Broadcast News professional relationships with local television journalists and videographers have been created. Luminaries such as Yolanda Harris, (WTVN/Fox News), Steve Harvey (WBNS videographer/reporter), David Wayne (WCMH reporter), Angela Pace (WBNS public affairs director), Elbert Tucker (WBNS news director), and Eric Albrecht (Columbus Dispatch photographer) have visited the classroom and met with students. Visits to WBNS 10TV allow students to gain a greater understanding of the rigorous demands of the field. The doors these relationships create allow our students to secure positions as interns and to see firsthand how professional journalists practice their craft.

Past Grant Award - “Bring COSI to Stiles”

COSI came to Stiles several times, providing a different area of study each visit. Students learned almost all first grade science standards through innovative, unique, inquiry based hands-on experiments taught by experts from COSI. After each program students were asked questions to test their gain of knowledge. Students not only learned science content, they also practiced many math, reading, and writing standards. Science topics taught included weather, sports (movement), and sound.
